Who May Be Appropriate for an Initial Review?
- Someone who poses an actual imminent danger to self or others due to behavioral manifestations of a mental disorder.
- Someone who is gravely disabled or impaired to the degree that he/she manifests major disability in social, family, and/or occupational functioning
- Someone who needs continuous skilled observation and acute evaluation available only in a psychiatric hospital.
Other Symptoms include sudden acute:
- Aggressive behavior toward others
- Prolonged grief issues over the loss of a loved one
- Excessive cursing, swearing, etc.
- Isolating excessively in room
- Refusing to participate in activities
- Sleeping excessively
- Increased depression
- Decline in hygiene or ADLs
- Inappropriate sexual behavior
- Significant level of psychotropic medications
- Increase Change in Moods
- Trouble Concentrating
- Slowed Thoughts
- Slowed Movements
- Sudden Weight Change
- Extreme Irritability
- Extreme Agitation
- Sudden Change in Energy Level
- Sudden Change in Activities
- Seeing or Talking to Things That Aren’t There
- Increased Complaints
- False Beliefs
- Bizarre Behaviors
- Increased Fearfulness Increase in activities of Substance Abuse
- Withdrawal from Alcohol or Other Abused Substances with a primary psych diagnosis
- Non-Compliance with medications with History of Mental Illness
- Increased Paranoia
